• We’re interested in Cyber Essentials, how much does it cost?

  Cyber Essentials is the UK Government’s answer to a safer internet space for organisations of all sizes, across all sectors. Developed and operated by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), Cyber Essentials is considered the best first step to a more secure network, protecting you from 80% of the most basic cyber security breaches. Currently there are 2 options.

  1. Cyber Essentials is a foundation level certification designed to provide a statement of the basic controls your organisation should have in place to mitigate the risk from common cyber threats. This cost of the certification is £300 + VAT, and we usually charge an additional 4 hours of consultancy time.
  2. Cyber Essentials Plus is the highest level of certification offered under the Cyber Essentials scheme. It is a more rigorous test of your organisation’s cyber security systems where a cyber security expert carries out vulnerability tests to make sure that your organisation is protected against basic hacking and phishing attacks. This cost of the certification is £2500 + VAT and we usually charge an additional 7.5 hours of consultancy time.

• Do we need antivirus software?

  Yes. Anti-virus software is one of the multiple layers of protection we recommend businesses use to secure their devices against viruses and malware. Contact us to find out more about ESET’s award winning security software solutions.

• What is data encryption?

  Data encryption is a security method that converts readable data to a protected format. Encrypted data can only be accessed after it’s been decrypted. This helps prevent your information and identity from being stolen or read by someone who wants to use it for malicious purposes.

  How do Fentons encrypt client’s data?
  Fentons adhere to the Cyber Essentials security framework and follow GDPR standards to protect our clients data. When data is at rest (i.e., it’s not being moved) it’s stored on encrypted drives and when transmitted, it’s sent and received in an encrypted format.
